Beautiful scene. You have the makings of a very dramatic image here. Some tasteful cropping might serve to accentuate the drama. I would love to see this place in person!
Yeah, I'd always wanted to crop out that bit of sky at the top left but felt it chopped too much of the waterfall off...maybe not though. Must give it a fresh look and try and make a different photo out of it. I've kept meaning to go back to the waterfall and shoot some more because I didn't have a tripod with me that day plus I only took four shots of the waterfall.
I like this photo but a feel it would be improved if the sky in the top left conner was not there. I agree that cropping the sky out takes too much of the waterfall away. Maybe if you had zoomed in on the waterfall more. Try it again.
I was lying on the ground resting the camera on a rock! Could've done with a much longer exposure coz I didn't get the depth of field I needed. That top left corner is doubly annoying because its gone out of focus as well. Like I said above, I mean to go back to the waterfall and shoot again, hopefully I'll get it right that time!
You might try changing the apect ratio, and printing as if it were a 4x5 negative. This eliminates the sky and the out of focus trees. I tried this by sliding the image up to vignette the top on my monitor and the image is spendid. Go back to the darkroom, not the site--I think you are closer than you realize.
I revisited the pic in the darkroom and cropped it as above and I'm much happier with it. Thanks all for the helpful comments. Not sure what I'm doing wrong with my scanner but the prints always seem to come out alot rougher than they are on the paper.
