The lady and the children are all very well dressed. Germany in the 50's was still battered in places. What is the word at the top of the sign--Handlung? Very interesting photo. Thank you for posting.
I have to talk with Josef about all the places the photographs were taken - I guess this one was taken in the French Occupation Zone Rheinland Pfalz / Saargebiet. About the sign : Yes, I think you are right : ... handlung means 'store'. What kind of store, I just don't know yet.
This series is fascinating, thanks for sharing. The photographer obviously knew what s/he was doing! I have a Perkeo II with the Color Skopar, but I suspect outdoors in decent light, a Vaskar stopped down a little would give an excellent account of itself, many triplets do. On page 4 of my gallery here on APUG there is a shot of the front end of a 1932 Duesenberg in a museum. That was taken hand held in available light on 400TX with my Perkeo II and the shot still boggles my mind every time I look at it.
Oh -- Macfred -- don't apologize for your English. After what cellphones and texting have done to the language here in the US, you could probably qualify as professor of English compared with what I see around me written by so-called "native speakers" of the language.
