Port Clyde, Maine - Tom Johnston

This is a crop from a 4x5" negative. Years after taking this picture, I was in the same area and I ended up in the little lobster shack in this picture and I didn't even realize that I had photographed it years before. I will post a color picture of the inside of that shack later. It turns out that Wyeths (painters) featured this shack in many of their paintings. Also, a color photograph of it taken from the from the vantage point shown here but much more tightly cropped was a famous photograph used as inspiration after 9/11. The Governor of Maine and President Bush have it in their offices. I didn't know any of this when I found this shack. My eyes were just attracted to it.

One of my favorite places. Unfortunately, the tide was out leaving the ugly (and very smelly) mud below the piers on the other side of the water. Haven't been there all that often, by my experience has been that the tide has always been out at the time that we managed to get there from wherever we were staying in the area.
