"Pork Chops" at the Famous Door

Bromoil Print. It was a rainy afternoon, some thirty years ago, when French Quarter street dancer, "Pork Chops," and I were walking down Bourbon Street. When we arrived at the Famous Door, "Pork Chops" started singing and dancing in the rain, a la Gene Kelley. I shot a 35 mm color slide that remained in my attic for decades. I recently broke it out, made a copy negative which I converted into this bromoil print. In those days I was friends with many French Quarter street people. I often wonder what happened to them. I'm afraid I know!

Gene. Your work especially that which contains colour, always reminds me of the technique used to great effect in several movies but especially the " Sting" of freezing and transforming ordinary scenes into something painterly and yet still photographic.
