Pordelain Pot and Leaves

I've been working on an affordable soft focus lens idea. This is made with a rather pedestrian projection optic that I have modified. Can't afford a Pinkham? This is the 2nd of 2 with this lens so far. Actually I burned a couple sheets of 8X10 with it to round out the 5 I needed for a Jobo run :~'))

I like this one too, Jim! Great softness to it. Can you divulge more info about the 'project'?

Thanks Thomas. Pretty simple. The lens is a projection triplet. I moved things inside similar to what happens when you move the center element in a Cooke Portrait lens or a Universal Heliar. Hoping to get these once in a while, modify them, and be able to offer them for a pitance and still make a small profit. The classic soft focus lenses, as you know, are just crazy expensive.

Jim, very nice. Isn't it funny that we (well, at least I) have tack sharp lenses and we keep gravitating to those which aren't. Guess sharp focus isn't all it is cracked up to be. Love the image! Love the genius behind it. Bill Barber

I love sharp for what sharp is for ... I love soft for what soft is for.... the trick is go get the two going for you... you seem to have it right here ... great idea also with the optics project ....

I don't understand for one bit the technique: but when I look at this image i'm at my grandmothers house and 5 again. thnks for the memory
