"Pops" ... French Quarter Street Dancer

Bromoil Print. He danced for donations in a hat for many, many years. Brush inked on Luminos Charcoal paper.
"I knew a man, Bojangles, and he'd dance for you..."

Always wondered what he looked like. Now I know.

I got to know "Pops" and made a lot of photos of him over the years. He had the most expressive eyes that I have ever seen. Pops worried about the pigeons and he spent some of his dancin' dollars daily to purchase snacks for them. I couldn't bring myself to tell him that French Quarter birds were the fattest and probably the best fed in our country for he derived so much pleasure in feeding them.

Gene, your work is inspirational. Thank you for showing. Best wishes, Nicole
