Pool 13, Upper Mississippi River Flyway

After the spring flooding drift wood accumulates along the back of the river. The limestone is rip-rap placed by the Corps of Engineers to reduce erosion. The un-natural high value on the stone is a remanent of the flood. A coating (God himself only knows how toxic) that gave a beautiful high value when dry and a deep rich low value when wet. This image was printed in '92, pre VC head days.
