Bromoil print. This is the first of a new series of abstract pond scum images I'm currently working on. Scan of 7 x 7 inch bromoil print on Slavich matte paper.
Oh my goodness...first Shawn Dougherty, and now you...is pond scum the new Yosemite? Seriously, though, its a very nice design that must be a lovely print.
Shawn has done a lot of really interesting pond scum work but I wish you guys would find a more appealing word to use than scum. Maybe it is just me but I have a certain revulsion to the idea of scum. Maybe that is the charm of it. ;-)
Wasn't it Bill Shakespeare that said that scum by any other name would smell as sweet? Or something like that. I found some of Shawn's scum images. The highest number I saw was #86. Wow! I only plan to do six or eight prints. Mine will be closer up views and all abstract images. I didn't mean to invade your scum territory Shawn!
There is room in the scum for everyone. Nice work Gene. It is interesting to see how different people arriving at a similar subject have different seeing.
What an interesting abstraction. It's near impossible to tell what it is, and I sit here wondering if it's best to give away what it is or not.
Nice work, Gene!
