I think your literal title does no justice to your picture... how something ordinary can become something special.

Marco,
I believe the literal titles work to show exactly that although they do so more effectively when shown together in a complete group. Viewing a single image on the web is what does them little justice in my opinion. Point taken, however. I am working on an essay to accompany the work and have even considered subtitles.... in fact the more I think about it the more sense subtitles begin to make. For example, the following image would be subtitled "Algae in the Sky with Diamonds".

Thanks Marco. All the best. Shawn

Keep it going, Shawn. I'm loving most of your uploads. I am so fascinated with how pond scum as theme can be so effective.

Shawn, Shawn, Shawn.... i really enjoy this work i progress...I really love the way the surface algae acts as an artist canvas supporting the image of the grass shadow... but I must say we need to go into consultation for titles and sub-titles OK?.... just kidding... your doing a strong work and I sure hope I'll have an opportunity to see the finished presentation...

I've been enjoying this series, too, Shawn. Without the title I would have thought this one was a very flat patch of sand rather than the surface of a pond. I would love to see these in person.

Miles, I appreciate it and would LOVE to hear any suggestions for subtitles that someone is willing to offer. I have names for several of them but far from all.

Mark, sand or concrete came to my mind as well. It creates almost a textured canvas in certain areas. I got a similar feeling from the following image:

Thanks again.

Great composition - nice mix of textures, and I like the strong diagonal lines. Well done treatment of something ordinary (pond scum).

Thanks fellows. Very much appreciated. Although, I no longer think of Pond Scum as ordinary... All the best. Shawn
