I've actually got two of these Pond Scum prints hanging in a juried show this year at the Trumbull Art Gallery in Warren, OH. Hopefully I'll be able to find someone to hang the collection when it's finished and I've released my portfolio.
Thanks everyone! I was excited to see them hanging for sure. Of course I didn't win anything or even get honorable mention... no photographers did. You were only allowed to enter two pieces and I was the only photographer and 1 of only 10 people (out of 300 entries) with both works included in the show, so that was encouraging. Those darn painters get all the glory though!!! Thanks again. Shawn
The "Pond Scum" is very creative. Taking something mundane and creating art from it. The echoing lines and shapes really resonate through this photograph and the entire series.
Hey Shawn , let me echo the congrats...I am continually a fan of the Pond Scum projects(though I still feel a little more pazazz in the title...) this is a particulary nice one....
Chris, This is more than being creative with mundane things in life. These pictures are examples of the beauty and interconnectedness of life. They are that partly because they are beautiful objects, but more importantly, Shawn, as the creator, has a connection with life that allows him to see that interconnectedness. Almost as important as that is, it is his ability with the medium that enables him to confidently convey that which he sees-- or rather, feels.
Richard,
In terms of my intentions, you took a big swing and hit the nail square on the head. As far as your comments about my vision, feelings and abilities to convey them... I'm not sure what to say except thank you and it means much to me. doc
