From my regular walks, doing street photography. This is another street that's seen new immigrants settle and - happily - children playing outside, like they're supposed to. Sadly rare sight these days.
Kids live in a climate of fear, at least here in North America...this despite clear statistical evidence it's much safer now than when we were kids. They're bubble-wrapped and have every last moment of spontaneity and free time eliminated, and we wonder why they show no initiative and suffer obesity and anxiety...that's why it's so great to see kids like these live life the way kids are supposed to. ... /rant
Nice grab, and the little push for contrast is fitting. Yes, this type of scene has become . . .not so common. Grown men pointing cameras at children not their own, this has taken on a aura of nefariousness. Too bad. Children are quick to express joy, and joy always makes a great image.
Both true points. I took the time to talk to them, and to the nearby parents (out of frame) and we ended up having a great chat...I made a quick print off this and will drop it to them when I get a chance.
