The is an area of a proposed route for LADWP high tension power lines. It runs through public and private land, much of which is a designated preserve.
Wonderful Desert scape Richard. I am very familar with this area, used to live 20 minutes from Pioneer Town. It would be devastating to the area if this project is materialized. Pioneer town and the surounding area is a magical place.
Richard, Could not agree more about what you are saying. It is a difficult place to photograph, the beauty is everywhere but needs to be seen in a 360 degree view so to speak. Adjacent Pipes Canyon is similarly magical but all senses are needed to take it in.
When I opened you picture, I was so surprised it was in color... it looked monochrome in the thumbnail. And the longer I look at it, the more vibrant the colors become!
I comment on this because my first job after college as a photographer and technical artist was for an archaeological project in Peru (I ended up marrying the project director, but that's another story...). I had never been in the desert before and I showed up on the north coast of Peru to find a monochome lunar landscape. A year and a half later, I returned home after the experience of a lifetime with over a hundred rolls of film... and while I was there, day after day, the desert took on more color and beauty than I could imagine.

I missed this one somehow, must have been the color that threw me. An excellent use of it and space as well. I can imagine all the little creatures that call this slice of the word home and how it must feel to stand here, I can almost smell the air. Best. doc
