Having spoken with you I think I understand your general intention(don't worry, I'm not going to try and express it). I don't find myself responding to these last two posts as I do with some of your other, somewhat similar work. I hate to dismiss these that easily though. It seems like these prints rely heavily on the organization of texture, maybe more so than tone and even form. I would really like to see these in person, I have a feeling the prints themselves have a totaly different presence than these small scans. I hope I get the chance to see them, Pa isn't that big. I can speak about what lead me to photograph this tree in particular, but I don't think that would explain what I am ultimately trying to "say" with this picture. I don't even know if it can properly be explained in such a literal sense.
Really, it is all just an organization of shapes, but to say only that seems like a cop out. At this point I can only say that the general idea of this long term "project" is to photograph the abundance and diveristy of life in the desert around where I grew up. Maybe it will become more specific as it plays out.
Experimentation and intuition are the driving forces behind the best photographs. It seems like your heading down the right path, the one that feels best to you, and I look forward to seeing more work. Best. doc
