I remember being disappointed when I got this slide back from the lab. It didn't match what I had visualized when I took the picture. With time, the vision of what I was expecting has faded and no longer clouds my appreciation of what I have. I find I have become quite fond of this quiet little vignette.
Not intentionally. I don't yet really know what it means to push and pull film At this point, I'm always shooting at the speed of the film as metered with my trusty iPhone.
It's a part of the development process, if you used a lab and exposed normally then there isn't any reason to think they would push it, it just looked not hat I would think the scene looked like either, but it's a very nice image, I was more trying to deduce how to recreate the color, it's very nice
Ha! Yes, this slide definitely has a cool cast. I was kind of surprised, as everything I had read and heard about Velvia led me to expect everything to be magenta or green. The old pine cones were grey, almost colorless, and the freshly fallen pinecone was such a contrast. That is what caught my eye I guess. This was taken well before sunrise on a cloudless day at the same time a picture I posted a while ago (two big rocks posted in the critique gallery) was. It also had a blueish cast and the comments suggested a warming filter, which I have since purchased and used. As a side note, I don't think it was a lab issue because I have other exposures on that roll that exhibit the fiery sunset look Velvia is famous for. As a side side note, I find that the Epson V500 on the default settings produces colors (on my screen) that are very close to what I see on the light table.
