this is a plate I made using zacryl ground beneath the carbon layer. you can only see the image because I didn't clean it with vinegar and salt after printing.
Always wanted to see one of these plates...any chance you could show the resulting print that goes with the plate for comparison? Very cool stuff Mateo, very cool.
No Gustavo, I started with a 120 negative and made a positive on lith film and then contact printed that onto carbon which was then transfered to the copper plate. The carbon print on the plate acts as a resist to the ferric chloride which etches the copper. All in all the process now seems more romantic than worthwhile to me. The carbon prints I made practicing for photogravure are more interesting to me now.
Mike I'm sure I still have a print from this but I haven't found it yet. I only made 2 of them and I think I should still have one. If anyone wants to donate an etching press to a good cause I'll gladly ante up a print.
