Daniel, this is really nice. If it were me, I think I would crop out the bottom just above where the smaller root on the right is protruding upward and maybe crop out the top to eliminate the stick coming into the frame on the left. I also like the way you've printed it as well. Great tones and contrast. What developer do you use for your prints?
Thanks John, Jerry and Suzanne. I'm not sure about the dangling branch in the upper LH corner either, but without it, the image seems kind of blah. Same with the branch at the base of the trunk- if I crop that out I lose the S-curve in the ice, which is the only interesting thing in the foreground. As you suggested Suzanne, the scene loses most of the interest for me without the countering movements and gestures.
John, for this print I used ID-78, a basic warmtone developer.
Great print, Daniel. I can see how you would want to keep the s-curve, as well as the shadows of the branches up in the top right.
The continuous tone from dark to bright is very appealing. I also enjoy the stark contrast between the tiny tree and the bright snow. Great stuff as usual!
Thank you all for taking the time to comment. I find that suggestions from fresh eyes and minds help me focus the doubts and ideas bouncing around my own head.
