Pete Seeger circa 1973

The photo is a scan of a print that I recently made from a negative taken at a folk Concert at Lehigh University in, I believe, 1973.
Pete was doing a rhythm song at the time.

It has always been one of my favorite photos and when I had an opportunity to offer him a print at Music Fest in Bethlehem some 25 years ago, he
laughed and said he had way too many photos of himself as it was. He signed it in his wonderful style of sketching a banjo and adding Chinese characters. I have always cherished it. I misplaced the negative for at least 25 years and recently found it. Hmmm. 34 years.....yeah, I'm sure a CD will last that long. This was the first photo I've ever scanned. I'm sure that I have a lot to learn.

Excellent subject Pete Seeger should be a national treasure.

Actually, I believe he was donated to the Smithsonian a few years ago.

We have a 1970s revival here today?

I wrote a letter to Pete when I was in high school in the 1980s asking him how I could make the neck of my banjo long like his. He very wisely said "don't" because he didn't want me to ruin it in the attempt. I still have the letter with the little banjo sketch. I wish you still had the print.

Thanks for showing us the image.
