This is appealing although I am not 100% sure of the "butchered pear" although it does make one look closely. How large can you make a digital print from a 6x6 neg that will still give good results as a plt/pd print?
I like this a lot - you seem to have the same workflow process that I want to get good with - I shoot 6x7 with my RZ but often want to print Pt in larger sizes - Love the accessability of a roll film camera but the beauty of a large contact print -
how do you go about enlarging your negs ?
I had some pictorico inkjet paper on hand from some other stuff I was doing, but no matter how much resolution I scan the original neg at when I print the neg I lose quality -
Is it as simple as darkroom enlarging onto larger negs ? do you cross process at any stage or are there 6x7 inter-negs also ?
Thanks Peter - I hope I haven't caused offence Christian How large could one make an enlarged neg from the original and still produce good quality results - I appreciate some are a tad more skilled than others
I use both process digital and silver enlargemnt , you may see some work I did for a friend with digital beg here http://www.akomamba.com. SOyou haven't caused any offence Carl
But Now I almost use silner enlargement. I find it as easier if not easier compare to digital and it truely keep all the detail as I capture them.
I use direct positive film or direct inversion proces to do my enlargement. I find asome direct positive film in 20x24 inch so I can enlarge this size.
But for 2.25 neg I rarely go up 14x14 inch to keep closed view qualilty, but for if not observe closed I can make large print.
Thanks for that Christian. I am going to have to learn to how make enlarged negs from 6x6 and 5x4. I have only seen one large plt/pd print - done by Tilman Crane - and that was from an in-camera neg. If you had two prints side by side can you tell the difference as long as the print isn't too big? It is so difficult to tell what looks good and what doesn't on the www.
The 11x14 print made from 35mm on the akoma mba print show the 35 mm silver grain. But with acros and 2.25 film I can enlarge to 8x10 without much difference compare to an 8x10 contact. but above 8x10 the print will have more detail with an in camera negative.
by the waty due to the viewing distance and if you don't look to the print too closely, you may print 16x16 and it will look good. Mapplethorpe print are eve larger and they just perfect.
