Pat's Branch - Neshannock Creek

4x5 silver gelatin contact print

Made after a stop at Pat's Camera Cottage on the banks of Neshannock Creek in Volant, PA. Pat finally retired last fall at the age of 91, still sharp as a tack. =) I will miss photographing along the creek after buying fixer or film...

It was at Pat's that I first looked through a view camera. The light shimmering off the water of the creek on the ground glass hooked me and immediately changed the way I saw things.

great work shawn ! --- J

It's almost like an etching, Shawn. Or a block print. Those inky dark blacks are beautiful, and the intensity of the light drives it home for me.

Nice work Shawn!

Fabulous memory. Thanks for sharing. All of us have special memories like this that play an important part in our lives and work.

Thanks you all. I was very pleased with this, it's my second attempt at printing it. I went much harder this time and think it has a better mood. I also just found out that Pat's Camera Cottage will be open "by chance or appointment" this spring! =)
