Pantheon, Rome

Testing my new Epson 4870 scanner. At 120K file size limit, it may be no improvement over the 3200 I used before, but here it is anyway. I got back from Rome last week. Warning! Tripods are poison all over Italy. Nab your wide open landscapes with the 16x20, but for all monuments and attractions, hand held only.

You should be able to get your photo in a much bigger size, even with the 120k limit. Are you using PS to save the image as a .jpg?

The original scan, at 400 dpi, was 4 MB. I then did a Sharpen filter. I then resized in PSE to 100 dpi and 2.9 in. x whatever to give 120K. I could have decreased to 80 dpi, to closer match our monitors, which would have given a larger image. I worry that the dpi trade-off might be worse than the size trade-off. As a LF/ULF guy, I'm used to 80LPM or better, and I hate to see sharp images turned to mush on computer monitors. Perhaps APUG should get offline and onto billboards besides major highways.
