First, I can't seem to get a good scan of this 9x11 print on my V500 (pseudo cheapy) scanner. This is cropped slightly from the original because the edges weren't scanning black.
Took this in 2005 on a trip to visit a friend in Oxford, England. Used a tri-pod and big Pentax 67 with the wooden grip. Security came over and asked me to stop.
A good shot especially the reflections in the platform and the sheer vastness of it all.Victorian stations are real architectural jewelsDid security say what they objected to? Was it the tripod or simply the act of taking pictures? I note it was 2005 so was the shot before or after the 7/7 bombings of that year? If you'd been a terrorist then you had your shot anyway! You could have said that this was a shot to be passed to an organisation dedicated to "an old order which rejects the modern world but in which our brothers occasionally indulge in metaphorical fratricide"The security guard would have replied:" Oh, only for APUG then - well no problem - why didn't you say!"
A great strong image and has pentaxuser mentions, the reflections add to the whole effect. I also like the composition, with the two figures adding that bit of interest.
Thanks, everyone. Pentax: I was there in May of that year, so before the bombings. I don't remember all the details but I seem to remember that they were vexed by the contraption or maybe by the elaborateness of the act. I also had a Gossen Luna F around my neck and was using shutter-release cable. The exposure was something like 4 seconds. Next time I'll give them the "old order ..." bit and see if they don't leave me to my work!
