Correction! I've never printed bigger than 8x10, but ended up ordering 8 1/4 x 11 3/4in (21x29,7cm) because there was nothing else available in my usual stores so, I'm slowly making my way up and closer to the 35mm aspect ratio! LOL
A4 is actually useful since you can get A5 and A6 very easily. Makes as much sense as the plate sizes and the ones based on factor 2 of the area of 8x10 (effectively 'quarto' books).
The effect of the curtain is stronger in a larger image.

Before I found 9.5x12 paper I used to cut 11x14 down to 11x7 for 35mm prints. The near panorama dimension works really well for most prints with the added benefit of getting two prints from one sheet. Keep doing what you're doing, it looks great.
