Thanks all for the feedback. I have a very nice print which has passed the the SAT (Spouse Approval Test) which is usually summed up in a few words such as "I want that one on the wall". I was getting the print ready to frame when I decided to share here. It's a pleasing result because the camera was on a tripod with timer so I had to guess a little on where and how to sit and fall of the shadows and highlights on the face etc. I like that about photography. Sometimes you are good and sometimes lucky.
This is a very nice portrait, well balanced.I don't know if it is the scan, or my screen, but I wonder what it would look like printed with darker blacks. and a little burning in of the book.I find that the ILFORD Art 300 paper or Ilfobrom produces beautiful rich blacks (enhanced a little with toning).

I think you need to check your monitor, I've looked at this image in both my desktop monitor, laptop, and iPhone, and I don't know how the blacks could be ANY blacker... Just FYI.
