Outside Looking In

Brian, care to share how you got this result with a Hasselblad? Have you, like so many others, been playing with fitting funky lenses to your camera?

Thomas, thanks for looking. This photo is from a cf 80mm that I added some extra elements to the front. The lens by itself is beautiful and I love how sharp it is but, like everyone else, I wanted some mojo too. In a stash of old glass I luckily found two lenses, a cemented achromat and a biconcave, that almost cancel each other out but add enough distortion to work some flare and softness in. There is some focus available but not the full range, more importantly is the ability to use the shutter speeds and f-stops. Another plus is turning the achromat around gives a great and weird portrait lens. I taped the entire thing into the lens shade and can remove it just by taking the shade off. I'll post some more examples. To me it's sort of like having a sturdy, reliable, and controllable diana.
