Vic,
The last comment makes no sense to me either. Why do I photography nature. Why do people photography over and over and over New Orleans. Or the starving children in Africa, and so forth. I'm sure you didn't mean it in a bad way, but it is possibly a question that could be brought up on much of the work here, just to get a insight on the thought pattern of most of us. Jose are you doing a protfolio on this or is this just a random shot.
Vic, I don't know if this satisfy your interest. First, these are not a random images, I've been working in slaughterhouses and morges for eight years. I start doing this to overcome my fears related with taking photos of people and to trespass my confort zone. First I went to an abattoir trying to catch the ambiance of what is called, euphemistically, "the sacrifice zone", what is the relation between animals and the people who work there, I tittle this series "someone has to do it". During three years I took photos in all kind of slaughtering places, cows, pigs, goats, chicken.
In 2003 Mary Ellen Mark made me see that my work was more related with people and death than with people and the dead, so I started to go to morgues and funerals. Now my work on this subject is related with death in 3rd. person.
yes, I overcome some of my fears, not all of them.
That's a fantastic reason and explanation.
Thanks for posting and helping me understand your reasons, although the photos are certainly strong enbought to stand on their own without it.
