I'm enjoying this series and hope that you'll start a thread on them to tell us a little more about your approach!
I've made a few orotones myself, but I used carbon transfer to glass and then coated over the backside with a gelatin emulsion containing a (faux) gold pigment. This also works great; there are many ways to do this, which only makes me more interested in hearing about yours.
