I just got a new scanner that can do transparancies. Even though I'm concentrating on B&W these days, I thought I would put up a few color images from a past trip to Zion National Park. If there is a lot of interest in these, I'll post more.
This is Orderville Canyon, a side canyon off of the Virgin River taken in late August.
Okay, so critique, or more so, opinion. I think the top 1/4 (even to the top 1/3) of the photo can go. It is too bright and pulls away from the rest of the photo and the beautiful tonality of the lower portion, which is where I believe your photo is. If you had shot more of the water (with light reflections?) I think your photo would have been much stronger. However, even without expanding on the water, I feel the real beauty of this photo is in the limited brightness values, though these values are close to each other they are far apart in the feeling of temperature that you get. The stone is the shadows looks cold. Thanks.
