The silhouette in the background on the roof is my little daughter (7).
After overcoming the faint feeling when seeing her there, I took the opportunity for a quick shot, before starting to shout at her....
Normally I'm not a huge fan of children photos, but this is a great shot. The layout, the selective focus, the flat, but articulated tonality of the boy's torso against the dark wood... Really nice.
Interesting to imagine it without the happy waves. Suddenly a whole other mood.

I am usually not a big fan of children pictures either (although the ones from Nicole Boeing McGrade for example here on the forum are quite phantastic) - saying that, I take an awful lot of them, but I think I try to 'tell a story' in the picture, and not just produce a nice looking image.
Not that it always works....well, I still try to find my style, I guess!
