Claire, thanks. I got lucky with this one. The VC lens doesn't have a coupled focus. My family was walking quickly from the mall because we were late. I stopped about 3 feet from the top of the guys head almost without stopping and took the shot. When I got to the car I looked at the lens and thought I missed the focus, as I started to go back, the guy got up.

I love lucky shots like this one! Grab camera, quick glance at settings, focus and fire! Then cross your fingers till the roll's developed...I also tend to lag behind the family...always looking for a little luck to show up.

This is very nicely composed...I like the angles that found they're way in, here...the splatter mark on the sidewalk adds a neat element without being too distracting...not that you had time to worry about those things...
