This Camelback Pony Truss bridge is on an old alignment of Highway 64 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma in Sequoyah county. Very few steel truss bridges remain in Sequoyah county. This dates from 1927.
As a documentary photograph this is just fine. It would be more engaging, though, if the roadway were not so featureless. Perhaps waiting for a moment after rainfall, or in a more interesting light would be fruitful.
Yep, a Jeep Wrangler that we came in. While it would be ideal to wait for perfect atmospheric conditions to shoot these antique bridges, my main goal is to document them before the city, county, or state replaces them with a dull lifeless concrete slab. Sometimes I shoot up to 14 bridges a day. Several LF shots per bridge. Everythiing I have shot so-far is within a days drive, so it is possible I may go back for "better" shots at some point, to some bridges. This time of year is best for road level shots, as there is foliage, yet this same foliage (poison ivy, snakes, ticks, etc) prohibits getting down to water level for side views, so everything is a trade off.
