I like this alot; is this a 'newer' Holga, with the bulb setting?

Yes, Vic. This one has a "B" setting

It looks like you used a newer one. The images really have a Petzval lens like quality to me. I recently broke out a B setting Holga and was surprised by the contact sheets. The lens is alot sharper in the center than my 'pre-B Holga' but the edges are even less sharp.
