Some sort of old pumping station on Morris Street, across from the old Durham Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina. The photo was taken in December of 2015. This print was made in February, 2017 on 8” x 10” paper.
This sent me directly to Google street view. Lots of photos to be taken in that location! Just a little bit of old North Carolina surrounded by the 21st century.
Judging by the big fuel tanks and the trucks out of the picture over your right shoulder, I think they were for filling trucks for local delivery. On street view it looks like they're still in use.
There are underground pipes from the tanks to the raised pumps. They fill trucks from the top and deliver to local customers, probably residential heating oil. Here's some info I found on the property: ERWIN OIL COMPANY | Open Durham
AHAH! I should have done my research! Notice also this comment from the website "There is a totally awesome railroad trestle spur to the immediate north of this building". I have this photo also, see: http://brendanquirk.com/8523.html. Also, I posted this here on 6/29/19. Should I post it again?
