I like this as well as you do. Are you sure you didnt take this in the Adirondack mountains in upstate, NY...... ...., nice crisp sharp shot, orange filter was a good choice to darken the sky a bit, got anymore from that day of shooting?

I think I like it better with the lighter tree on the left cropped out. It draws my eye away from that lovely fence.

Could the printing tree much more down help? I was thinking that cropping tree from the picture, the left tip of the fence cut's off.

I think that you should print down the tree on the LHS as has been suggested. The fence does lead the viewer further into the picture creating a sense of depth.
Otherwise your photo is excellent.
