In a way, I wish the background was in focus. By doing so, the photograph would not just be about the barrel (the subject, as stated above, as which you have made it), but rather about this interaction between this barrel and the beautiful landscape that exists around it. The photograph would take on a deeper meaning past just a picture about the barrel.
I'm normally an f64 guy but the smoothness of the high key tonalities and out of focus elements seem to elevate this to far more than "a picture about the barrel". It has become more of a dreamlike image bringing to mind, my mind anyway, thoughts about the role of humans in the landscape as well as our effects upon it. Very well seen and presented. All the best. Shawn
I think you've done very well with this. Lofoten is a place I'd like to go some day. The selective focus is well chosen, the shallow depth of field definitely adds a dreamy quality to the image that I wholly appreciate. I actually think that just the background itself even is beautiful and interesting. Meget fin!
