Taken in the middle of "the big empty" somewhere in Saskatchewan along the number 1 highway.

This could also be the Duck Valley Reservation Quick-Mart on the Idaho-Nevada border (ID-51/NV-225). Sometimes an oasis like this is really welcome on a long drive!

Are you familiar with Ed Ruscha's artist-book "Twenty-six Gas Stations"? I think it was published around 1963-64. It was a seminal conceptual piece, that started the self-publishing movement of artist books. The photos depict not so much a typology of a lay/pop architectural vernacular, but introduced the concept of the picture series and serial (as in moving narrative).
 
This photo is part of an ongoing series I call The Big Empty. Thanks for all your comments!. I printed this image as an 8x10 to get an idea of how it looks. It really wants to be at least 16x20.
 
Nice,I was a over the road trucker for 30 years.I got to see and stop at places like this wish I had my 35mm with me.
