Oaks, Late Evening

Oaks of Träskända Manor Park. Finland.

4/20/2009

I was at evening trip on Träskända Manor Park with photo club when I saw oak trees lit by late evening light.
Immediately I saw this picture. I quickly assembled my 4x5" field camera and attached 210mm lens which was longest I had on my bag.

The light was quickly going off, so I have to hurry. I think that it took less than 10 minutes from the moment I saw the trees to the point when the film was exposed and I was taking my camera off the tripod.

I used Neopan Acros film as Quickload, developed it with pyrocat 1+1+100 to N+1 contrast.

All comments and critique are welcome.

The oak tree on the LHS should be the dominate feature of your photo but it seems to serve only as a guide to the viewer to travel in towards the centre and background. The detail captured in these areas is not as good as the detail captured in the tree on the LHS. Because of this the picture lacks a central point of interest. On my screen I have cropped off a lot of the photo on the RHS and it looks more pleasing to me.
I accept the fact that you are the photographer and this is but one person's opinion.

Cheers
TEX
