Oaks above Bob Jones Trail

I'm trying hard. The image looks way better. I like this shot, but the grass now looks so busy and you lose the depth in the photo. Photo taken uphill, those oaks are several hundred feet higher than the trail, and the grassy slope is undulating, though you wouldn't know it from this print.

woops, mistake, I meant to say the negative looks way better than the print.

The most important decision that you make is where you place the tripod supporting your camera. Practice and more practice is called for.

To start with you need to identify a center of interest.

Using that "00" filter makes the photo weak looking. Print small size prints and work your way up through the filter range ignoring the 1/2 ones for the moment. You will see the print increase in impact as you change filter strength. Remember from 00 to 3 1/2 maintains the same exposure time . Just double that time for the remaining filters. Write the filter number on the back of each print. When everything dries you can compare and pick your favourite.
Gaining experience in the darkroom is everything and there are no shortcuts.

Cheers
TEX
