There was a similar shot to this posted last week, and I thought the shadow area was far too strong, but other people seemed to like it. Your version holds greater appeal for me, I like the fact that there is detail throughout and you seemed to have moved in closer to the house. Good luck with printing this shot I'm sure it will make a fine print.

I am usually not sure if any picture has the right contrast i.e. would it be better with a higher or lower contrast but this one is absolutely right

While I find this a very well done picture, and not wanting really to compare photographs with other people's work, I do think that this picture I've seen many times before and the other one never before. I think that's an issue for photographers, is making something different about comparable locations. It's sort of like the American Idol thing, where they often cover other people's songs, and try to sound just like the famous person. The trick is to make it fresh or different. That said, I repeat it's very nicely done.

This example is a VERY nice image, and it works for me. I'm glad this one was posted because it really shows how two creative minds can go to the exact same place and come away with two completely different interpretations. Some may prefer one others may prefer the other, and all perspectives are equally valid. That is the beauty of art and the creative mind. To the photographer: How the heck did you get a view with no people!?!?!? I stood in the middle of the walkway for 20 minutes while busses full of tourists herded themselves through the grounds before I got a shot, and even then it wasn't completely devoid of people!
