Sunrise at Bonsai Rock. First roll of medium format film I shot. I used a 6x8 back, which didn't seem to have any benefit, since both the right and left edges had to be cropped because of uneven and unattractive edges. I bracketed +/- 1 stop from the reading my iPhone gave me and the middle exposure was dead on, however, I prefer the dreaminess that the +1 exposure has (this shot). The lighting was so even that I don't really have any blown highlights in the +1 or blocked shadows in the -1. This was the last of three shots on this roll. Not too shabby for my first roll through the camera. This certainly reaffirms my love of Velvia. If I was good, I would have done some exposure and darkroom combination to expand the contrast range of the scene, but that stuff all sounds like magic to me. Next up is a roll of Tmax 400 and another roll of Velvia, and then a roll of Ektar 100.
