Just off camera is Sgt Snudge who has his day made when the squaddies get covered in mud and he shouts "You 'orrible little men you! Corporal Springer is nowhere to be seen. As the army is responsible for security and public safety, he's checking out a suspicious character in the beer tent I wonder what we'd think of the "Army Game" series these days
@pentaxuser Long experience specifying color changes in custom color printing and in slide duplication. Skin tones, mud, and probable black paint of the car.
I think the color in this image may be "crossed-over" which would mean any correction (e.g. viewing through 10cc Red) might correct some Cyan areas while making other areas (such as sky) slightly pink. Crossover can occur as a result of chemical issues or expired/damaged film or paper.
The colour on this negative was difficult to get a reasonable result with. Other film I've scanned has been fine. I may have also been using up some expired film.
@jtk Thanks for explanation. I can see a cyan cast but just wondered about how the correction amount was arrived at. Certainly 10 units of C is a lot on my Durst dichroic head but 10cc may not be as much.
@pentaxuser Estimating/specifying CC (color compensation unit) issues is/was based on Kodak's critically precise and regulated gelatin filters...I think they were the universal standard until they became unavailable. Professional color printing technicians learned to visually (with no technology) identify color casts and visually specify adjustments in CC units, with amazing accuracy (reliably within 5CC units)..
I recall that in photolabs , Kodak's CC units were effectively identical to Omega and Beseler dichroic units. Cyan is particularly tricky because it's not a color many people can identify (not in our beloved Crayola colors). We often think it's blue or green or, in desperation "turquoise", but the latter includes yellow..but not enough to become green ...whew.
