My wife and I vacationed in New Orleans pre-Katrina. When we arrived out hotel room wasn't ready so we dropped our bags and went for a walk which is when this was taken. Unfortunately this was before I dev'd my own but I think my lab used HC110 IIRC. I split graded this print 16sec@0 8sec@5, F5.6.
This looks like a nice print. I love the composition. The light looks very harsh which I think works here. Picture looks a bit soft also but with the harsh light I think it works. nice one
Some day I'd like to go back. I initially became interested in NOLA from driving a long distance to work and listening to the Ann Rice vampire series. She wrote wonderfully about the city and I just had to see it. Now with two little kids it's nowhere near as practical.
I expect that you are probably getting a wee bit tired of some of my comments, and I apologize in advance if I offend you in any way. I assume that you are seeking an honest opinion about the photos your show on the site. I understand if my remarks engender some choleric response, and I hope that you take whatever I say as constructive.
I find the image entirely too contrasty, with blown out highlights, and not enough detail in the shadows. Whatever details are shown tend to be soft, and poorly rendered.
The site looks interesting, and I wonder if you will have the opportunity to return and consider another exposure and developing paradigm. At first I thought that the photo might have been taken with some sort if infrared film scheme.
