The only remaining part of the Royal Victoria Military Hospital. Once the largest hospital (138 wards) and longest building in the world. Demolished in 1966. My father worked there hence the visit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netley_Hospital
There is some blue sky but no direct sun. I didn't want a bland white sky if it could be avoided. I considered a yellow filter but these don't seem to have much effect in the UK especially in September so I used an orange filter. That is a compromise because the chapel is made of orange bricks which has made the chapel light with barely any contrast between it and the grass. The stonework isn't white it's yellowish stone and the dome is green. As alternatives, an ND wasn't an option as it would have affected the tower and a circular polariser is beyond me on a rangefinder (although perhaps I could have marked the polariser with a dot, looked through it to get the effect I wanted and then mounted it on the camera in the same orientation). The picture probably looks best printed at a harder grade (3) but then the top of the tower starts to become indistinct.
