Nepenthes pitcher.

A Nepenthes pitcher from my greenhouse. This is a carnivourous genus native to the Phillipines, Borneo and Sulawesi.
Equipment Used
Hasselblad, 150mm Sonnar T* + Proxar 0.5 closeup filter.
Exposure
1 second at f22.5
Film & Developer
Ilford Delta 400, D76 1:1
This is would make a great intro for a horror movie; joke aside, great shot - love the exposure, very precise and hard to determine for a macro shot.
 
I love the detail of the 'ribs' or whatever they are called that surround the opening.

Thanks!Those raised ridges are often called "ribs", yes. The structure surrounding the opening (the circular ribbed lip) is called a peristome. very nice b+w view of this plant -- the structure and texture really show off well thanks to the lighting and perspective .... and it's quite transformed from the color image (and much bigger than the bw led me to believe) ..... how come it died? cold snap?

Pitchers of this genus are relatively short-lived, last at most 10-14 months before being replaced by new ones. Some last only a few weeks at peak form.
