This was once a busy two laned road through the pilot training/signals base at the North 40 end of the Boundary Bay air base. Then it was abandoned in the 1970s, and Nature has been ever since doing its best to take it back.

The post WWII history of this place is quite fascinating - it was essentially one of the "listening posts" used to monitor radio traffic from Russia/the USSR. Not surprisingly, a lot of the history is hard to access, because it remains classified.
