Correction (and I was around at that time): this is a Corvair, (made its debut in 1960) the compact made by Chevrolet, and the success was sullied by the fact that this was as dangerous to drive as was the Ford Focus. - David Lyga
It would be an interesting industrial design, or more likely political science, PhD project to test if the Chevy Corvair was really a rolling deathtrap. It might turn out that Mr. Nader was in fact the latter-day inventor of hysteria as a political weapon, or shall we call it Political Ice Nine for short. If so, then just maybe the USA is suffering a Cat’s Cradle effect unleashed by Nader’s insolent political offspring’s careless handling of a Thermos bottle they neither respect nor understand.
