This would be a tough hike with an 8x10 setup. It's about 2km each way from the trailhead and the trail scrambles thru rainforest with lots of roots and some mud. There's markers on the trees to keep you from going off the trail. Good hiking shoes are a must - no sandals or running shoes on this one!
There's a steep descent near the bottom which goes down some wet eroded wooden stairs.
I think a medium format SLR setup with a tripod would have been ideal, after seeing how beautiful this was. I'd try a light 4x5 kit if I go back some day.
