This is my very first kallitype. Film processed @ 40% longer. It is much easier than I thought. I have a bunch of 8x10's waiting to be processed but I'll get my routine down before I attempt to do the bigger ones.
EDTA? Ummm, that's too technical!
I did notice little spots of iron. I followed the directions on unblinkingeye.com. I'm very technically challenged. I used the 30% citric acid from Sandy King's article. Is that the same as edta?
I like to learn by making lots of mistakes. Perhaps I didn't clear it long enough?
I don't think the negs were contrasty enough. I think I developed it pretty good but afterwards, but didn't realize I had a good bellows draw. I think that knocked out at least 1/2 a stop. Next time, I'll measure it and develop appropriately.
Excellent first effort. You can selenium tone this neg to get more contrast. Maybe try a different pyro developer with less background stain like ABC or Pyrocat for more contrast.
