My neighbor the enlish lit professor

I finally developed the 15 negs from my 1920 ICA 6.5cm x 9cm. 7 minutes in Rollo-Pyro seemed to do the trick. At least to my untrained eye.

HOT DAMN! I love the tones!!! I've gotta get off my butt and try that combo (I use mostly Microdol-X 1:3 with J&C 200).

Nice job!

Ditto on the tones, has a nice retro look to it. I would like to see it with a bit more illumination on the shadow side of the face, just a bit; hell, it is probably there but just not on my monitor! It does look to me that there is a loss of DoF as the end of the nose looks a bit fuzzy. Perhaps others can verify.

Nice photograph. Chuck

Thanks Chuck and Bob

Bob, I got the recipe and methods from Per Volquartz. He's a class act.

Chuck, I agree 100% about getting some reflective light on that dark side. It was just me, the subject and my 4 year old in the studio. Next time I'll get someone to hold a reflector. I'll try another time to get the nose in focus to see how it works. I really like shallow dof on portraits but I'm young and have plenty of film to experiment with

Very nicely done,I too would like to see a little more detail in the dark side of his face or much darker without any detail. The bottom cropped a little to take out the small triangle and the small black tabs that look like film notches would help for me. The gentleman should be well pleased with this picture. John

Jeb, All of my gallery images have been scans of negatives and I have tried to do as little as possible to them. I leave the dust specs and film notches in because I don't think I should represent the pictures as prints. Technique comments like yours are really all that I'm after
