You don't seem to have lost shadow detail, and the highlights have been (mostly) retained; at least from what I can see on this (probably) low resolution web image.
Has this process with this negative, allowed you to compress or expand the image brightness range more or less, or about the same; over a normally manipulated B&W darkroom print?
Mick, I printed this in silver gelatin maybe 15 years ago -- to be honest, I don't recall enough to be able to compare it to this gravure. My sense is this print holds its own in the mids and shadows. The highlights seem to lose a bit of range. But I am at the very bottom of the learning curve for this process, and still I was able to make a print that rivals the kallitype I made of the image last year (which I also posted here). This process seems to excel at holding detail in the shadows. I love it.
