This is the first photograph i have ever developed in the darkroom.
Extually it was the third, but the other two were for testing the exposure.
Stil some dust on the lens that i need to clean next time.
Tim, Welcome to the fold Well I've seen some results that have taken weeks to get to this standard so I hope your feeling on top of the world at the moment
The moment i saw the picture in clear daylight, certainly did feel king of the world.
I love to see how the picture comes up in the developer.
And my sister in law will kill me with kisses after she see's her little boy on black and white...
Ohw...
That won\'t be a good thing.
My sister in law has her birthday in one week, and i was hoping to enlarge this print en give it a nice frame, for here birthday.
Is it a smart thing to make the background darker en my nephew a little lighter?
Just to get more feeling in the picture ???
Get some negative cleaning stuff - canned air, anti-static brush, cleaning fluid, pads but be very very careful cleaning it. Practice on another for the first time. If there is something stuck on it then you can easily scratch the negative. But it should come clean. Nose oil (aka "snot") works pretty good in a pinch too.
Get a place for your negs to dry with a minimal amount of dust and get them into carriers quickly and you shouldn't have many issues.
It looks a little overexposed to me, but hard to tell on a computer. Second the cropping out the face
I will try all these things.
On the computer it\'s a little bit darker then on paper.
But still the paper is a little dark to.
I found out there are some smaller scratches on the paper.
I think there from the (i dont know what to call these) things you use to hold your papers end take them from one bath to the other...
Some suggestions to improve the picture:
Obviously you concentrated on the boy but forgot the background (some serious guy contemplating in the background)
Use a fill-flash to bring some sparkling in the eyes of the boy.
Print a least at a contrast grade higher. The picture has the tendency to be dull (the is no real black on the picture)
Eliminate the vertical beam in the background dividing the picture.
